How Shopping Can Make You Happy
It may sound slightly materialistic but it has been scientifically proven in various studies on the effects of commerce on psychology that shopping actually makes people more happy. Each study showed that people who were in a bad move before purchasing something either online or in person were significantly improved by the end of the experience.
While it is hard to say whether this is a trick in the mind, a direct consequence of gaining something desires, or a series of chemicals in the brain, the end result is the same. People who shop more tend to be happier, and in an overall better mood in their every day life.
This doesn’t mean that you should go out and start spending compulsively, as this will have the opposite effect, especially if you don’t have a lot of money to spend. But regularly buying something small that isn’t needed, but wanted, is a great way of keeping your attitude positive.
Whether it is a pair of cute earrings seen in a mid-range department store, that new tie or pair of shoes you have been saying you would get, or just a little board game that you can play with your family, shopping is a great activity when you are down. It is even medically approved!
